Love your site. I was looking into learning how to make authentic Indian cuisine and ran across the use of ghee as an ingredient. Now, here is your site, with more than just a ghee recipe, (that I will be trying in a few days.)
Just wanted to say, thank you both, for taking the time of putting up the directions to make butter and all these other great items.

Janna: The oven light is basically just to keep the temperature warm all night (when the room temp may fall at night) so that it can ferment. If you ferment during the day or have a hotter room temp (you want it around 80 degrees) then it's not necessary.

I'm going to try your method for making yogurt. My way is hit or miss. Why do you need to leave the oven light on I wonder?

I also dream for having a cow and produce my own milk but there is so much work in this that stops me. My grandparent had cows, pigs, horses, sheeps and chickens and during the summer everyday one of the kids (we were 6 cousins)had to clean the cowshed, it was a really hard job. But the butter and the milk were the best I've ever tried.

yum; I wish I had a cow! I'd love to play with all the varieties of products one can produce from good milk. And, I'd love to have the cow by-products for my garden!
